FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 1, 2008
Desert Hot Springs, Ca: The Desert Hot Springs Playhouse proudly announces that its debut production of “Broadway In Love”, performed last February at the Desert Hot Springs Senior Center, has been recognized by the Desert Theater League with three nominations for the organization’s “Desert Stars Awards”. The nominations were announced at a special event at the Hotel Zozo in Palm Springs late September and will be presented December 7th, also at the Hotel Zozo. Desert Theatre League multi-ward winning director, Kathyn Ferguson received two nods for Best Director and Best Musical Director in a Cabaret Production, while Daniela Jara received recognition for Best Choreography in a Cabaret Production. Playhouse board president, Charles Harvey, said, “We are thrilled to have been nominated for our first production. With amount of high quality performances the valley sees every season, to be included among them is an honor and a validation of all the hard work the cast and crew put into the show.” The three nominations highlight Desert Hot Springs debut production, which happened to be the only show of its 2008 Season. Ongoing negotiations with the City of Desert Hot Springs for a permanent venue are nearing fruition, Harvey said, and the group hopes to be able to announce a 2009 theatre slate in the next couple months. Having been granted its 501(c)3 IRS charter over the summer, the Desert Hot Springs Playhouse is a non-profit arts organization charged with providing quality entertainment for the residents of Desert Hot Springs and the surrounding communities.
